    Question: Im not so lucky,
I got webhostingpad and they don’t make it as easy as godaddy. I did everything you said, i asked by e-mail to webhostingpad
and they said to put in the dreamweaver action area “cgiemail”
but when i use the form, the site answers

    NOT FOUND 404
The requested URL /cgiemail was not found on this server.

    what is missing?
they have Fantastico..should i use this??
    thanks Ali.

Hey thehognias, thanks for your mail. Those hidden fields you are talking about is where people hide keywords on there website to try and get better rankings, they always fail because google is more smart. Adding contact hidden fields you do not get penalized for at all. If you look at google shopping cart or paypal shopping cart they are all hidden fields that hold information about the cart, exactly the same as this, they hold information for your form

    Awesome tutorial- one question…

I’ve read that google will penalize/block your page if its spider bots detect any hidden text… this doesn’t refer to the hidden forms explained here (recipient/redirect) do they? Thanks mate.

Hey chance3111, thanks for your comments. Are you using godaddy if so then this should be it. What i would check is that you have the formmail in your ftp or back office. Also check which package you are using. Godaddy has windows package or linux package. Windows package uses the webformmail.asp at not the gdform.php. Let me know how you get on

  • 1stoptutorials says:

you could have a look into free hosting and see what there is. It will have to allow php for it to work. Can you not contact the hosting to get the password. Let me know how you get on. Thanks

    Ali

  • 1stoptutorials says:

Hey rainbowsnow7596, i have just uploaded a video on youtube with a free php script to make it all work, let me know how you get on

    Ali

  • rainbowsnow7596 says:

I don’t get any of it… I found another one before the Matts Script bu it didn’t work… I’m new to all the PHP stuff so… I can put in the textfields and all that no problem it’s just that I don’t kno how to connect it to my web host.

  • JakeJumpsHigh says:

Ok I am deffently going to by a Domain because GoDaddy Offers Domains for like $10 a Year right?

How much does a Host cost?

  • 1stoptutorials says:

up to you, depends if you want a free hosting or paid. Paid is always better because you have full control over what you do and plus it supports other languages, there are people who use free hosting but i am not so sure about that. I use godaddy for my hosting

    Ali

  • JakeJumpsHigh says:

Do I have to by a Domain or a host?

  • 1stoptutorials says:

Generally they have instalation instruction. Have a look at one called matts script see how you get on with that one. Let me know

    Ali

  • rainbowsnow7596 says:

if you do find a script, where do you put it??

  • 1stoptutorials says:

Hey rainbowsnow7596, thanks for the comment. Yeh you might run into a problem with free hosting because the probably do not allow php scripts. Have you done a search online for some different formmails. Let me know how you get on. Thanks rainbowsnow7596

  • rainbowsnow7596 says:

Hey, I’m using 000webhost and I’m still trying all these website thingy so I’m using the free account and I can’t find form mail anywhere. I’m kind of stuck at that. I tried sending one, nothing was in the inbox and it didn’t redirect the page, is that partly because my form is not connected to my web host??

  • 1stoptutorials says:

Hey TheWebsonic, thanks for the comment. Yeh godaddy does produce the email slowly you are right. The downside to this compared to php is that php is probably more secure and will allow more functions, let me know if you find anything fun. Thanks TheWebsonic

  • TheWebsonic says:

Hey Ali, great vid thanks very much!
One question: Are there any downsides to using this method instead of a PHP script?
One tip i would like to mention to anyone trying this, is that Godaddy takes around 15-20mins to process the form that you send. I thought my tests were not working, but after 20 mins i had all my test e-mails come through at once. Bit like Godaddys FTP. It works, but it’s on the slow side. Cheers all.

  • 1stoptutorials says:

What you could do is find a formmail script that is hosted with someone and use that for the time being it will probably mean that a link to there website is put at the end of your form, but if you are thinking of getting a host at a later date then you can change it
